180bpm Playlist

Since I wrote about how increasing my pace to 180 bpm made me a better runner, I received several questions about my playlist. It’s a bit of a mixed bag with some retro added. Here it is in alphabetical order:

Above the Timberline – Five for Fighting
Bright Side of the Road – Van Morrison
The Bug – Dire Straits
Demons – Imagine Dragons
Freedom – George Michael
Heat of the Night – Brian Adams
How Long – Dire Straits
I Can’t Live Without my Radio – LL Cool J
Original of the Species – U2
Perfectly Lonely – John Mayer
Roar – Katy Perry
So Cruel – U2
Somewhere Only We Know – Keane
Stand Up Comedy – U2
Summer in the City – Joe Cocker
Twisting by the Pool (Remix) – Dire Straits
Who Says – John Mayer
Yellow – Coldplay
You Can Leave Your Hat On – Joe Cocker

I usually put my iPod in shuffle mode, so I don’t constantly listen to songs in the same order – anything to mess up my routine! But I do admit to skipping songs if I don’t feel like listening. There are a couple of songs here that give me the energy to tack on another few kms at the end of a long run just because they are upbeat and improve my attitude.

I like to run with music because it provides a consistent beat and lets me run faster. I regularly change songs when I am tired of them. When you select your own songs, most important of all, choose songs that make you happy!
